Welcome on board! (If you’ve not yet signed up; then you still can…)
We’re very glad to see you’re signed-up for this year’s Photocamp and we’re looking forward to welcoming you to ‘OBH’ on 3rd September and Armley Mills Museum the next day.
Whether you’ve been to Photocamp before or not, we suggest you read the following – because this year everything will be a little different!
The single most important change is – ahead of the day there will be no plan. That’s correct – we aren’t planning a schedule this time; we figure it’s time to throw this open to you and allow you a full chance to shape how the day will run.
So, whether you’ve been before or not, presented in the past or not – it’s time to consider… ‘what can I bring to Photocamp?’
But… what could I share?
The answers to this are endless – you could talk us through a collection of photos you like – or want to critique (yours, or those of others), tell us some neat tricks and tips you’ve learnt, ask us to help you through a problem or to discuss an issue affecting photography. You could even ask a bunch of people to get with you and attempt some crazy photo initiative – or simply take a small group on a short photo amble.
We’re not going to tell you what to do – and no one will criticise you for what you choose to do; that’s the point of Photocamp – to get together and share in an open and friendly environment.
However, we realise some people may find this a little intimidating; so think of this – you’ll probably be in a group of around 10. It won’t be in a big cavernous space. And, they’ll be there to help and support you through. But, if you do need a little more help – why not ask Anne or I? (If you already know what session you’d like to run, then please pop over to the site and tell everyone)
Why not look at what has been presented before… or at another event.
- Can I just decide to present on the day? Yes, of course!
- Can I run a session on either day? Yes – but be aware Sunday is shorter and better suited to ‘do’ activities rather than presentations and discussions.
- I’m really nervous about running a session… then why not post it as an idea and ask for someone to help!
Once you’ve decided, please tell others about the session you’re thinking of on our website – you might get a collaborator, or able assistant… Saturday sessions | Sunday sessions
Ok, so that’s the sessions out of the way – where’s the pre-event challenge?
Well, that’s simple – we’ve been going ‘home tourist’ mad over on Exposure Leeds and the challenge is – to head out into a space you inhabit every day – home, work or local neighbourhood and take an intriguing, exciting or stimulating photo that will make us ‘wish we were there’ – and then send us it.
That’s it; dead simple.
This message will explode in 30 seconds. Or maybe not.
