So, Exposure Leeds has focused it’s sights on West Leeds and specifically Armley – what’s that all about?

For those who don’t know, part of Exposure Leeds’ remit is to provide community photography opportunities around the city. In it’s first dedicated project reaching out to a specific community, we are linking with I Love West Leeds, who have taken possession of the old Co-op on Town Street for the next few months.
We will be working to put together a series of temporary exhibitions, designed to show a flavour of the best bits of this area of Leeds – inspiring and working with local people.
So – what have we planned?
- Shopkeeper’s portraits – Anne Akers and Francesca Panella will be working together to document some of the shopkeepers of Armley’s Town Street.
- We’ll be bringing our monthly photowalk, ‘Weekend Coffee Break’, to Armley – with a challenge to collect images showing the familiar and unfamiliar from around the area. (22nd Nov)
- My Armley – a workshop event with locals recording their personal highlights of the area.

I love Armley Mills! We did a photoshoot there about a month ago, and it was fantastic! The old architecture, machinery, everything was great! Photos are over at http://www.flickr.com/photos/matthewkitchenphotography/sets/72157625059836271/
