Going to be their early? Why not pop to ‘End of Season‘ who open on the same night, also as part of Art in Unusual Spaces
As part of Leeds Photo Week we are hosting the first Exposure Leeds exhibition – ‘The Best of Leeds Vol.1′.
This is a collection of 102 images (see above), selected by a curation panel from a set created using specific criteria*. Whilst the images selected are representative, strong and show the diversity of photography in Leeds they also questioning the methods of arriving at the best (or, in Flickr’s case, most ‘interesting’ images) in a collection.
With millions and millions of images in a fairly democratic resource, it is difficult to define what to highlight – algorithms count views, comments and ‘favourites’ and somehow come to a conclusion as to how popular an image is – if your image is especially interesting it may even appear on ‘Explore‘ – Flickr.com’s daily ‘best of’ selection.
No exhibition would be complete without a private view and so, we would like to invite our friends along to this special opening. This wil be followed by a social at nearby pub, The Wrens.
The exhibition will also be open 12noon – 8.00pm on Saturday 4th – along with a photography help desk manned by Exposure Leeds photographers. Projected images will be viewable in the gallery window from dusk throughout Photo Week (1st – 7th September).
