I recently made a wedding book using Photobox and, for just short of £100, created a wonderful hard-backed book with excellent prints that I was proud to present. Having used this online service before to make a couple of smaller books I already knew how the system worked – but it is very easy to pick-up.

Uploading the images is simple and the layout options are straight-forward. The only problem I had was that the shots didn’t remain in the same sequence as when I uploaded them. In my wedding books I prefer to show photographs in chronological order – to help re-tell the story of the day. So re-sequencing everything was a bit fiddly and fairly time consuming. I was glad to have upgraded and spent the extra money on heavier paper, removal of the Photobox logo and an A3 sized format – the end result definitely had that ‘wow!’ factor
I’d selected Photobox for the quality of prints. This had been great in the colour books I’d done previously but for this book I converted all the images to black and white. I had also added some toning to warm up the images. Because of this I was quite nervous as to how this would show in the book but it was worth the risk and the shadow details had the rich feel that I was looking for.
I haven’t used any of the other photo book services so I can only comment on this service but with a bit of effort, it is a really easy way to get your photos into a book.
The proof of success? People are still drawn to pick up and look at the books.
