Workshop: Classic albums at the National Media Museum

We have been invited by Brian Liddy (Curator of Collections Access) to attend a double session in the Insight archives at the National Media Museum.

Starting with an introduction to the Collections at the museum and an insight into how working photographers can make use of the reasearch facilities, Brian will swiftly move on to giving us all the chance to get hand’s on access to seventeen historical photo albums in the museum’s collection. You will get a unique chance to see how other’s presented their photographs from the mid 19th century forwards in time into the 20th century. The albums will have been selected to give photographers context for the photo album and photo book – and will include an album of snapshots of the Russian Imperial Family.

Here follows a gallery sample of the types of images we might see…

We will conclude the event with a review in the cafe and a discussion of possible future events at the museum.
