The Olympics hit Wetherby!

It seems to have been coming for ages – but finally the Olympics juggernaut is upon us! After Exposure Leeds talked to Lee Karen Stow yesterday about her exhibition in the Cultural Olympiad we’ve a gallery of images from our own Ant Chippendale – covering the Olympic torch’s trip to Wetherby…

Today (19th June, 2012) was an exciting day for my village of Boston Spa in Wetherby, North Leeds – the Olympic Torch relay passed through just before lunchtime and I was there to capture the action, including the build up during the morning. I have never seen so many people on the streets before – all the local schools were on the streets and everyone came out of their homes and workplaces to watch and cheer. Before the actual torch passed through several promotional vehicles / busses went by including Samsung and Coca-Cola.

I’m very pleased with the photos I got and wanted to share them with Exposure Leeds. Event photography is something which interests me and this was a great event to capture. I only wish I had a faster lens for photos of the actual runner!

White Cloth Gallery opening

When we heard we had two photography gallery exhibitions opening on the same night we just had to record them. In this, the first of our galleries from the evenings, Ant Chippendale shares with us the images he captured during the opening of VII Photo Agency’s Jocelyn Bain Hogg at the newly opened White Cloth Gallery. The exhibition, entitled ‘The Family’ is an up-close documentation of life with modern day gangland families.

The Photo Boy’s Cuba

Ever since learning about Cuba in GCSE History back in the dark ages of the 1990’s I have wanted to visit the country. In summer 2011, to celebrate my 30th birthday, my girlfriend and I took a two-week trip there. With some great landscapes, beautiful beaches and fascinating people on the streets, it is a photographer’s paradise! I came home with 2,500 photos and this gallery is a very small selection of some of the best.

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m a photographer and IT consultant based on the West / North Yorkshire border. My photographic work predominantly covers landscapes, the natural world and street photography; I shoot digitally in RAW using Canon equipment and post-process in Adobe Photoshop.
