2010 sees the launch of a new initiative from Exposure Leeds – in support of Leeds’ forthcoming ‘Year of Volunteering’
The concept is to set up a volunteer-led photo agency for charities and other not-for-profits.
If you know anyone who would benefit from this scheme please ask them to email marketplace@exposureleeds.org or telephone the Exposure Leeds voicemail: 0113 815 0517
How this work…
- A small team will approach various bodies to promote the scheme.
- Client organisations will be asked to submit a brief for a limited amount of work, for example – to shoot an event or to take photos for a specific news release, brochure or just to cover off a specific theme to be ’stock’ for that organisation.
- The team will review these and work with the client to get a clear brief.
- The brief will then be promoted and photographers can show interest – which will be forwarded to the client.
- The photographer and client will arrange the shoot between them and arrange delivery of finished images (online, or on cd)
- The team will provide backup if required.
Whilst this is voluntary we will hope for a professional relationship – including the behaviour of the commissioning organisation…
- Changes to the brief to be agreed by all parties
- Clear written specification of when shoots are to take place and what is anticipated from this – to be supplied to the team for reference.
- Images will be supplied licensed in perpetuity to that organisation; but with copyright still held by the photographer and in an understanding they can be used for personal promotion; and used by Exposure Leeds in related promotions. Any agreement about non-exclusivity to be between photographer and client.
- It is the photographer’s responsibility to notify any ability to undertake a
- The client will be responsible for arranging people, places and permissions for any shoot
- Any expense costs that will require re-imbursement to be agreed in advance
- The photographer is not liable should they be unable to attend or the shot photos be deemed unsuitable.

Hi Mariam,
I’m afraid I don’t know very much about academic options in photography – I can only suggest you contact some of the universities in the Uk and ask.
Good luck.

I had a great time, and we had a 100% turn out of those who signed up.
I’ve had some feedback and will post that soon!
In addition to the two presentations there will be loads of time given over to socialising and networking and we will also be again having an print swap…
Concept:
- Bring a print – put your name and flickrname or email on the back. (A small fee (20p) will be collected – just to cover costs)
- Swap this for a ‘claim sticker’
- Prints are ‘hung’ during the presentations
- Select the print you want to take away
- Take it with you as you leave.
A reminder that the Lasting Moment Workshop and Museum Tour will be taking place this Thursday at Leeds City Museum at 6pm. NOTE: All places are already filled.
If you signed up we will meet outside the Leeds Museum (just off Millennium Square) between 5:45 and 6:00pm. The exhibition will commence at 6pm sharp. (Should the weather be bad, wait in the foyer of the Museum).
If you are unable to attend for any reason please Flickr mail Roger as soon as possible so your place can be filled with one of the reserves.
As a reminder for what to expect from the evening, Helen Langford (Curator, Museums & Galleries, Leeds City Council) will introduce you to the museum and the exhibition – ‘A Lasting Moment’, Marc Riboud’s photos of Leeds in the 1950s and 2000’s. After the tour you will be given a brief for contributing to expanding the Lasting Moment website when the exhibition finishes.
Great evening – very informative – looking forward to the next one and to PhotoCamp Bradford in September!
Update: PhotocampBradford hashtag is now #pcbd09
