Becoming an Exposure Leeds member

One of the most asked questions in our email box is ‘how do I become a member of Exposure Leeds?’.

Unlike many photography groups we have a very open attitude to membership – anyone who considers themselves a member of Exposure Leeds is one. We’re that open; and this isn’t some crazy attempt to be bigger or to be ‘right on’ – we simply are an open group – the more of us sharing ideas, experiences and knowledge the better we all become.

Funding for the group is also simple – we charge for some of the events we run. The majority of our income is from the ‘Talk&Social’ events we run every month; for which there is a set entry fee and we also apply an affordable charge to some of the other events we run. We then re-invest this in photography – in publications, exhibitions and supporting our community initiatives. We operate as a not-for-profit community enterprise; we’re not a charity – but neither does anyone take either salary or profit from it.

We are set up to ‘develop better photography’ – and the best way we can see to do that is to promote photography as an art form and to provide opportunities for those who enjoy photography to advance and to share their work.

Want to support our activities?

Whilst we generally operate a ‘pay as you go’ approach – we do also offer a ‘supporter’ scheme which allows those who prefer to pay once a year to support our work and to know they don’t need to pay in to some of our events. More…
